Assateague Island Sunset Cruise

Trip Summary

Join Captain Steve and the crew of Alyosha for a trip that very intentionally skips the Atlantic Ocean and stays in the flat, calm Sinepuxent Bay west of Assateague Island. No need for dramamine on this trip, as Alyosha provides a very stable platform for couples, friends and/or families to enjoy some time on the water. Lounge on the trampolines or one of the many comfortable seating options- there is plenty of room for everyone!

We offer this trip for anyone who is longing to get out on Alyosha- the 50' catamaran sailing out of Ocean City, Maryland during the summer- but is concerned about getting seasick out on the ocean. Alyosha will slowly glide along the channel, potentially affording a view of Assateague's wild ponies, under diesel power for the entirety of this journey. (we might try to get the sails up, but this will depend on the time and wind direction!)

You will watch the sun melt into the marsh along the west bank of the Sinepuxent and then be treated to a magnificent view of OC's night time skyline as we return to port. Bring your camera!

Note on Birthdays and Anniversaries:

One of the great surprises of our first year of operations was how many people decided to celebrate their anniversaries and/or birthdays with us! (There were a few weddings and a proposal as well...)

Let us know if you are celebrating something with your cruise: We now have anniversary and birthday flags- complete with a nautical number set- that we hope you will consider raising during the sail.

Trips on Alyosha depart promptly at the scheduled time from the berth alongside of Pier 23 in Ocean City Harbor. (Actual address is 12817 Harbor Road)  Feel free to bring your own drinks/snacks.  This trip will last for about 65-75 minutes.

This trip is, of course, weather dependent. If the captain feels that there is any risk given the conditions of a particular day, including a forecast that doesn't look promising, then the trip will be cancelled. You will receive a full refund in the event of any cancellation.

We need a minimum of 4 people for this trip to be run. If we have less than the minimum, we will refund anyone who booked. Don’t let this discourage you! Book the trip if you want to sail and if we don’t get enough people- we almost always do- we will find another time/date for you.

You don't need to show up early for this trip, 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time is fine, we might actually be out on another trip!

What to bring:

Alyosha has plenty of bottled water for customers.

There are restrooms ("heads") aboard Alyosha for use by customers. Keep in mind that the toilets on a sailboat are a little bit bit more sensitive than land based toilets...

Protection from the elements: Although Alyosha has a roomy salon area and cabins that our guests may use, the real action is outside, on deck! Therefore, we highly recommend plenty of sunscreen and sunglasses.
